By HD what do you mean exactly? HD resolutons? Or HD textures? HD resolution is definately do-able but if they were to redo the backgrounds then the game would end being a remake like the gamecube version of RE1. Though I don't think they will redo the background textures for higher resolutions, which im fine with. The textures were obviously low resolution but it still looked more sharp/less blurry at higher resolutions. So the resolution definately went higher than 640x480 for both RE2 and RE3 on PC im pretty sure. It wouldn't be hard to add widescreen resolutions like 1920x1080 and just add black bars on both sides. The PC version of RE3 had a max resolution of 1600x1200 and no widescreen resolutions I think. Stretching the background would lead to an awful pixel's soup. They played on Ps1 at 320x240, and pc on 320x240 or 640x480, both 16bit color, that's it.
